More About EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is currently one of the most extensively researched and highly effective therapeutic treatments available to help people recover from trauma disorders and symptoms. Continued research indicates positive clinical outcomes, showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences (Maxfield, 2019).

Individual Therapy
I am here to help demystify the therapy process! While it’s wonderful that therapy is becoming more widely utilized, there can be many unknowns as one pursues therapeutic services. In individual therapy, we work together to identify your goals: what is it you wish were different or better?
Sometimes we need help understanding our feelings and learning how to process them in safe, effective ways. Other times we need guidance addressing problematic thought patterns that are keeping us stuck. Whether it’s your thoughts, emotions, relationships (or all of the above!) that are impacting your well-being, individual therapy helps to untangle that distress and help you feel empowered to navigate your inner and relational health with more confidence and ease.

Couple's Therapy
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I thoroughly enjoy working with couples. All couples develop patterns of relating and behaving. Sometimes these patterns hinder us from experiencing the love and joy that significant relationships have to offer. In couples therapy, the three of us work together to identify problematic patterns within the couple. Then, with openness and curiosity, we explore what past and present pains may contribute to each individual’s part in ways of relating. Couples therapy provides couples with the skills and confidence to break old patterns and begin relating in more positive, satisfying ways.

EMDR
Our brains have a natural, built-in processing mechanism that works on our behalf every day to properly store memories – good and bad. Every now and then, due to the intensity or chronic severity of a situation, our brains need a bit of extra support when it comes to processing painful experiences. A lot of times, the pain from these improperly stored memories can negatively impact us in our everyday lives. EMDR is an incredibly helpful and effective tool in helping us process and move past these painful memories and experiences.
I am trained in EMDR and am honored when I get to work with people through this therapeutic protocol. I have linked an introduction to EMDR Therapy video below to provide further explanation to this process.
